Kernel Hearts Accessibility

This is a list of pre-release accessibility features we’re currently working on or working toward. This is not the final list that will be available at launch. We will update this page as development continues.

GaMEPLAY AND DIFFICULTY

  • Multiple balanced difficulty modes

    • Story: A relaxed mode that softens the challenge, letting you focus on the world, characters, and story at your own pace.

    • Normal: The standard experience.

    • Sinner: Reserved for the brave. Enemies grow more aggressive, unique variants appear, and harsher constraints test your wits to the limit.

  • Practice attacks and controls in the Playroom, which can be accessed in rest areas like Camelot and the Pink Wink Cupid

Input and Button Presses

  • Remap controller and keyboard inputs

  • Adjust left & right stick sensitivity

  • Invert X & Y axes for left & right sticks

  • Toggle controller vibration

Haptics

  • Toggle controller vibration

Audio Accessibility

  • Separately adjust audio channels for:

    • Master volume

    • Music

    • Sound effects

Visual Accessibility

  • Adjust screen resolution

  • Adjust frame rate

  • Adjust shadows, render distance, and overall graphical quality

  • Windowed & fullscreen modes

  • Toggle VSync

  • Toggle motion blur

  • Toggle screen shake

  • Toggle bloom/vignette effects

Dialogue and Text

  • High-contrast textboxes (white text on black backgrounds)

  • Autoplay dialogue

  • Choose between multiple fonts for best readability
